N. Richards and will be concerned with structure and metabolism of polysaccharides in sugar cane and with mechanisms of alkaline degradation of glycosides. The scholarships are financed by the Sugar Research Institute and by the Proprietary Sugar Millers Association. This is an opportunity to take part in the establishment of a new research school of carbohydrate and polysaccharide chemistry with special interests in tropical problems. Remuneration will be in the range £A9OO-£l5OO p.a. with exemption from tuition fees, and a limited amount of paid demonstrating work may be available.
