NEW YORK CATHEDRAL STILL UNCOMPLETED.—The largest church in the United States, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, in New York, has not been completed because of lack of funds. It was started in 1891. It has been estimated that three years’ work and 12 to 15 million dollars would be required to finish the building. One of the reasons for the shortage of finance is that many persons have moved from the area in recent years, and the ir homes have been taken over by immigrants.
