Pill Before Honeymoon

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, Jan. 14. A family planning clinic was giving the birth control pill to single girls about to be married to help them over honeymoon difficulties, the “Daily Mirror” reported. The girls were taking a course on the pill two or three months before their wedding day to enable them to plan it properly, the “Mirror” said. They hoped that by doing this any side effects from taking the pill such as headaches or sickness would have cleared up by the time they went on their honeymoon. The clinic which gave the pill to brides-to-be was run by the Family Planning Association in Leicester. One in six women who went to the clinic were single. The chairman of the association, Dr. Robert Kind, said, “The honeymoon and immediately afterwards is one of the most vital and difficult times in the life of a young couple. “A young bride has quite enough problems at that time without having to worry about her health.”
