Thin Smiles In Peking

(N.Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright) MOSCOW, January 14. A Russian delegation led by Mr Alexander Shelepin, second-ranked leader of the Soviet Communist Party, left Peking for Moscow today. Before boarding the special plane, Mr Shelepin thanked the Chinese Vice-Premier, Mr LI Hsien-nien for his hospitality. “We are very happy with the exchange of views we have had here,” Mr Shelepin said, warmly shaking the Chinese leader’s hand. “We will reciprocate the hospitality as we always did.” Mr Li replied that it was China’s duty to look after guests. The two men, who have met three times at Peking airport this month, exchanged thin smiles for the first time in public.
