Safety Centre
TN the United States, the Ford Company has announced plans for a car safety centre. It will be the first such centre in the United States. Ford of Britain is also placing increased emphasis on vehicle safety, and recently appointed a full-time car safety director. Construction of the United States centre will start this year. A 40,000 sq ft building
at Dearborn, Michigan will be erected to house testing and research equipment and staff.
The entire centre will be devoted to research into vehicle safety, and will have all the latest equipment, including impact sleds to reproduce collision conditions and test seat belts. A human factors laboratory will study physical and psychological characteristics.
