Sabaean Summer In Good Awapuni Trial
"The Press” Special Service
PALMERSTON NORTH. Sabaean Summer, which will be ridden by W. D. Skelton in tomorrow’s Wairoma Hack Handicap at Marton, looked most impressive in training at Awapuni yesterday. So did Dark Chick, which is a form candidate for the McDonald High-weight.
Might ran a brilliant five furlongs and Charisma and Justice Mac were others to draw attention to their chances at Marton
Sabaean Summer worked on the course proper with Jubilee Boy and Fast Company. Jubilee Boy was a length behind the others at the finish, the five furlongs taking Imin 4 4-ssec, the last three in 38 4-ssec.
Sabaean Summer had plenty In hand at the finish. He will take beating tomorrow. Fast Company will contest the same race. There was nothing wrong with his gallop yesterday, but his form in recent starts has been a little disappointing.
. Dark Chick ran keenly alongside Tainoch and Karent at the end of a solid mile in Imin 46 3-ssec, the last three in 39 3-ssec. Dark Chick will be ridden by H. N. Rauhihi in the high-weight. On the inside trial few Impressed more than Charisma, which had Lovely Dream covered at the end of three furlongs in 35 2-ssec. Charisma, a Messmate filly, ran well for fifth last Saturday at her first start. She could run boldly in the Juvenile Handicap at Marton. Justice Mac showed his usual dash when he ran seven furlongs in Imin 29sec, the last three in 38 3-ssec. It was a fine trial for the Stanford Hack Handicap. Might dashed over five furlongs in a brilliant Imin Isec, the last three in 36 3-ssec. He has done well this week and may be hard to beat in the McManaway Memorial.
Chartered plane to Wellington night trotting on Saturday, Jan. 15. returning tame night. Ring Doyle, 389-135. * —Advt.
