N.Z. Wool Fashions Flown To U.S.
A big consignment of fashion garments has already been flown to Honolulu and Los Angeles for the Wool Board’s joint advertising campaign with Air New Zealand, to be held in March.
The theme of the campaign is: “Your Wool Fashions Go International with Air New Zealand.”
The 150 garments include sophisticated ball gowns, coats, suits, dresses, skirts, slacks and knitwear. They will be photographed against local settings in Los Angeles and Honolulu and worn my American models.
Air New Zealand is flying the English fashion photographer, lan Munro, to Los Angeles to take the photographs for the Wool Board. Mr Munro has taken fashion sequences and cover pictures for many English magazines and is now living in New Zealand.
Announcing the campaign, the Wool Board’s director of trade promotion (Mr O. Dillon) said the campaign should have plenty of appeal in the United States.
The campaign would replace the wool awards - ontest usually held annually in March he said. “We are sure it will be a worthy successor to the previous wool fashion advertising,” he added.
“With the New Zealand airline going international, first to Los Angeles and soon to Hong Kong, we are leading the way to show how easily garments for export can be air-freighted overseas by the country’s own airline.” Mr Dillon said New Zea-land-made garments were up to international standards and would look well in any part of the world. Some 40 fashion firms will take part in the campaign. The series of photographs, now being taken in Los Angeles for advertisements, will appear in .30 daily newspa; ,rs and in various magazines in March.
