MISSED A GATE
Skier Lost sth Place (N Z P A Reuter —Copyrloht) ANDERMATT (Central Switzerland). P. Goldstern, of New Zealand. was disqualified from jthe giant slalom race on the second day of the British ski championships yesterday after he missed a gate. Goldstern, who has so far been the most successful of the New Zealanders competing in the championships, completed the 50-gate course with a 984 ft vertical drop, in Imin 56.305ec. This would have gained him fifth place had he not been disqualified. The event was won by J. Palmer - Tomkinson, from | Hampshire, who recorded Imin 49.255ec. The placings of the other New Zealanders were O. Clearkin. thirteenth in 2min 12.505ec and J. Summervaile, twenty-seventh, in 2min 32.40 s ec.
