CALL FOR EMBARGO
Western Trade With Hanoi (N.Z.P A.-Reuter— Copf/rlflht) WASHINGTON, January 12. Six Republican members of the House of Representatives yesterday criticised British and other Western trade with North Vietnam and Cuba and called for an embargo on all shipments to North Vietnam Their statements, made separately but released to the press jointly, all noted that the United States was helping the British blockade of Rhodesia and called for reciprocal action by Britain. The chairman of the Republican Congressional committee, Mr Bob Wilson, said 43 British ships unloaded cargoes in North Vietnam during the first half of 1965 “Now that we are co-oper-ating in the British-led blockade of Rhodesia, the time seems ideal to demand a free world embargo on shipments to our enemies in Vietnam." he said. “Free world shipments to North Vietnam and Cuba endanger the flower of our manhood in one case and our security as a nation in the other,” said Mr John Ashbrook, of Ohio. British ships carried almost 60 per cent of 1965 shipments into North Vietnam ports. Mr Samuel Devine, of Ohio, said
