Shelepin In Peking

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) PEKING, January 13. A Soviet delegation headed by the high-rank-ing official, Mr Alexander Shelepin, arrived in Peking today for a one-day stop-over on the way home from North Vietnam. Mr Shelepin is to have talks with Chinese officials, who are also giving a reception for him tonight. Afterwards he will be taken either to a theatre or a circus. During his stay in North Vietnam the Chinese press has reported neither his activities nor statements. But it has published many bitter attacks on the United States “peace offensive,” many of which have sharply criticised Russia’s role over Vietnam. The Chinese have linked the Shelepin mission to Hanoi with the American peace moves.
