RACING BIG SPENDER HERE FOR YEARLING SALES

The Californian breeder, Mr George Jamieson, who caused a stir at Trentham when he paid 7000gns for Tulloch’s Sister at the 1961 yearling sales, will attend the 1966 sales, which will start next week.

The 85-year-old Mr Jamieson owns the Rancho del Charro, and at stud there is Marco Polo 11. sire of the 1964 Melbourne Cup winner Polo Prince and now standing at a fee of 1000 dollars.

Mr Jamieson had the bad luck to lose Tulloch’s Sister —she was in fact a half-sister to Mr Haley's champion—not long after her arrival in the United States

Another big loss to the stud was Tulloch's sire Khorassan. which was brought in New Zealand by a syndicate and was represented in America in 1964 by four two-year-old winners. Khorassan died last year. In a short stay in Auckland before travelling on to Sydney recently, Mr Jamieson made inquiries for Bob Duff, but no business was done. Present plans are for Bob
