TAURANGA, Jan. 12. Fifteen youths appeared be fore Mr G. J. Donne, S.M., to day on charges arising from a disturbance at Maunganui, early on New Year's Day. Raymond Derek Water house, aged 19, a seaman, of Auckland, was convicted and fined £lO and costs of £1 10s on a charge of disorderly behaviour. He pleaded not guilty. Kenneth Charles Beatson aged 24, a commercial artist of Takapuna, was convicted and fined £l5 and costs on i charge of assaulting a police officer. He pleaded guilty. Henry Watson, aged 19, a farmhand, of Walton, was con victed and fined £7 10s and costs on a charge of using ob scene language. He pleaded guilty. Three youths were convicted and remanded in custody until tomorrow afternoon for sentence. They were Rodney Harrison, aged 23, a labourer, of Wanganui, and Larry Donald Ramsey, aged 17. an apprentice mechanic, of Kawerau who both pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour charges, and Paul Dalton Lindsay, aged 21, a driver, of Upper Hutt, who pleaded
guilty to obstructing the police. Four youths were convicted and remanded until January 120 for sentence. They were I Terence William Grant, aged 118, a labourer, of Maunganui, who pleaded guilty to a disorderly behaviour charge, David Niven Lundy, aged 21, a car salesman, of Mount Roskill, who pleaded guilty to an obscene language charge, and Daniel Theodoris Steensma, aged 19, a workman, of Wellington, and Robert Wallace, aged 19, a labourer, of Taumarunui, who both pleaded not guilt}’ to disorderly behaviour charges. Informations against Michael Martin Duff, aged 22, a driver of Taumarunui (assaulting police officer), and Cedric Lionel O'Neille, aged 20, an apprentice carpenter, of Hamilton (disorderly behaviour), were dismissed. Frank Michael McCluskey, aged 21, a carpenter, of Marton. was awarded £5 5s costs against the police when the I Magistrate dismissed a disor- ! derly behaviour charge against I him. A charge of carrying an offensive weapon against (Graeme Trevor Monk, aged 20, ia printer, of -Auckland, was (also dismissed.
