Unique Easy Winner
(N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI. The Canterbury yachts, Unique (G. and C. Cooke) and Naiad (J. Snelgrove and M. Dent), yesterday finished first and second in the invitation race before the start today of the Leander Trophy R class championship at Whangarei. Unique quickly took the lead and was never headed, winning by almost five minutes from Naiad. Other placings were: Minx (B. Blake and R. Rae, Auckland), 3; Shoulao (T. Workman and G. Gray, Northland), 4: Repeat (M. Bowden and G. Knightly, Auckland), 5; Frequent (J. Shanks and B. Sim, Timaru), 6; Rho (R. Vernon and P. Vernon, Auckland), 7; Shindig (D. Gardner and R. Palmer, Northland), 8; Siesta (I. Bates and G. Taylor, Wellington), 9; Altezza (T. Brandon and J. Dunnett, Wellington), 10.
