BAN ON GOLFER
; | Sewgolum Not To Compete (N Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) CAPE TOWN, Jan. 12. The South African Minister of Planning, Mr Jan E. W. Haak, has reaffirmed his decision not to allow the Dur-ban-born coloured golfer, Sewsunker Sewgolum, to compete in the Western Province open golf championship later this : month. The Minister issued a state-! intent as the golfer himself! was trying to arrange an I interview with him to persuade him to change his mind. Sewgolum has until now I been consistently the one exception to Government policy I that sport should be conductfed on the lines of strict racial I segregation. But Government sources, I had said that the intention is I to have no exceptions in | future.
