CRITICISM OF TOUR
“Reflection On All”
It was unfortunate that the misdeeds or faults of one tour organiser could seriously reflect on the integrity of all established organisers, said the sales and public relations manager of the Mount Cook Tourist Company, Ltd. (Mr E. G. Beckett) yesterday. He was commenting on a report yesterday in “The Press” that a party of 25 was disgruntled after a “grand” tour of the South Island. Most tour organisers, he said, took particular care to ensure that clients were fully informed of all details of tours before embarking on them. This applied not only to the standard of accommodation but also details of what side trips were included. “We know that neither our firm nor any of those we provide transport for would mislead clients in any way,” said Mr Beckett. “We feel that the organisation responsible for the criticised ‘grand’ tour should have had its name mentioned.” Not to do so reflected badly on all South Island tours, he said.
