First Visit To Lyttelton

A five-year-old Greek freighter, owned by Rethypinis and Kulukundis, of London, is visiting Lyttelton for the first time. She is the Dutch-built Castor, of 10,494 tons, which arrived from Vancouver at the week-end to discharge bulk potash.

A handsome vessel with an all-Greek crew of 37, the Castor has accommodation sited well aft to facilitate cargo handling. She has six hatches, five forward and one aft.

After discharging at Lyttelton, Bluff and Dunedin, the Castor is expected to load coal at Newcastle for Japan.
