Morris Francis Picked To Win At Reefton
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. The double on the first day of the Reefton Jockey Club’s summer meeting today will be on the County Handicap and the Springs Hack Handicap.
Form at Kumara on Saturday and Hokitika on Monday should be worth following. Morris Francis followed up an unlucky second at Kumara by winning convincingly on Monday and he is the logical favourite for the first leg of the double. General Gilbert, however, is expected t play a prominent part in the finish. Dark Seaman would have prospects on a dry track, while the lighter-weighted Clipper, Duplex, Lady York and Glenmist should see that the pace Is on from the start. Glenmist will appreciate the big drop in weight he has been carrying in hack races over the same distance. The Spring Hack Handicap looks open, with Silver Princess, So Lovely, Sir Limond and Serengeti all claiming supporters. It will also be interesting to see how Red Treasure performs in her first start in hack company. She has won well with big weights in novice class. The weather was overcast and cool yesterday but unless there is heavy rain the track should be in good order.
