South Island gallopers have been allotted the two top-weights in the Wellington Cup, New Zealand's richest race, to be run on the first day of the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting on January 22.

Palisade, from Wingatui. has been given topoveight of 9-0 and the Riccarton entry. Royal Bid, 8-12. Chatsgay, also from Riccarton, has 7-7 and the New Zealand Cup winner. Fieldmaster, from Washdyke, 7-8. Handicaps are:—
