GOOD FOR CRICKET
After-Test Comments

The definite result in the third test was a wonderful thing for cricket, the Australian captain, B. C. Booth, said after the game. “It would have been a poor show for cricket if we had gone into the fourth test with three draws behind us,” he said.
“As it is, it is a wonderful thing for cricket.
“I am naturally sorry that it was not our Side which won.”
Booth and the England captain, M. G. K. Smith, both agreed that the turning point of the game was Australia’s loss of four wickets late on Saturday. Booth said: “This was where we fell down —in our first innings. Against a total of 488 you cannot afford to lose your top batsmen like that.”
Smith said that winning the toss had been very important, although he did not believe it had necessarily meant winning the match. He declined to single out any players for special praise. .“It was a team effort,” he declared. Asked about his views on the rest of the series, Booth said: “England played better than we did in this match, but now we must wait and see.”
