CRUISE TO U.S.
Cinderella’s Prize (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Jan. 11. The liner Oronsay which arrived at Auckland today has a Cinderella of the ball among her passengers. A 19-year-oid training college student from West Heidelberg, Victoria, Miss Barbara Scannell, is on a round trip to North America on the Oronsay. She won her holiday at the Bella Donna Ball held resently in Melbourne b. the Sacred Heart Church. There were 1300 persons at the ball and numbered leis were sold at the door for a free cruise on the Oronsay. Miss ScanneH’s escort bought a lei for her and later in the evening it was announced that she held the lucky number. Miss Scannell was thrilled, but her partner was less pleased—the ticket wes not a double one. Having never been out of Australia before, Miss Scannell is making the most of her good fortune. Today she went on a sightseeing trip to Rotorua. Later in the trip she will meet Bing Crosby and Red Skelton in Hollywood.
