Generally, the £N.Z. strengthened last week. The only exceptions were in relation to the Canadian dollar and Japanese yen, where there was a slight easing. For the second succeeding week the £ gained on the United States dollar. Altered tiegraphic transfer exchange rates, as advised by the Bank of New South Wales, were.— New Zealand on: New York: Buy, 2:7990 dollars to £N.Z. (compared with 2.7950 dolilars on December 24); selling, 2:7672 dollars (2.7663). Austria: 72.74 schillings (72.69); 71.18 schillings (71.14). Belgium: 139.80 francs (139.60); 136.80 francs (136.60). Canada: 3.0054 dollars (3.0096); 2.9670 dollars (2.9712). Denmark: 19.37 kroner (19.36); 18.96 kroner (18.95). France: 13.80 francs (13.79); 13.50 francs (13.49). Japan: 1015 yen (1016); 992 yen (993). Norway. 20.11 kroner (20.9): 19.68 kroner (19.66). Spain: Selling, 165.10 pesetas (164.90). Switzerland: 12.17 francs (12.15); 11.91 francs (11.88). West Germany: 11.29 deutsche marks (11.26); 11.04 deuteche marks) (11.02).
