NO SIGN OF BOY
Search Near Murchison (N.Z. Press Association) WESTPORT, Jan. 11. A search party which left Murchison this morning to look for a 16-year-old hunter. Brian Clark, of Rahu, reported tonight that it had found no trace of him. Constable K. A. Munro, of Murchison, who is in charge of the search, has asked for three days’ supplies for the 14man search party. It is expected that these will be airdropped tomorrow. Clark has been hunting deer with another youth from the North Island since Sunday. The pair spent Sunday night in a hut near Wheel Creek and yesterday parted to continue their hunt in the nearby hills. Clark failed to return last night and his absence was reported to the Murchison police. The search is concentrated in wild bush country between Murchison and Springs Junction. Clark’s mother, Mrs J. N. Clark is confident that her son is safe. She said he was an experienced tramper and hunter in spite of his youth. The weather is deteriorating, with heavy rain and low cloud hampering the searchers.
