Denial By Israel
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) JERUSALEM, January 11. Israel has denied a Washington report of a secret French-Israeli missiles agreement. The “New York Times” said that United States officials believed Israel had contracted secretly with France to buy a large number of medium-range ballistic sur-face-to-surface missiles. A French Armed Forces Ministry spokesman in Paris denied that France planned to sell the missiles, but official sources indicated that the Government would not object to private companies cooperating in Israeli missile research and development. An Israeli Foreign Office spokesman confirmed that Israeli researchers had received aid from private French firms.
