Cause Of Death
(N Z P A.-Reuter — Copyright) MOSCOW, January 11 Mr Lal Bahadur Shastri died of acute myocardial infarction—commonly known as a heart attack—according to a report signed by his personal physician and eight Soviet doctors who rushed to his death bed. “Considering that in the past Prime Minister L. B Shastri had suffered a myocardial infarction and the nature of the condition which developed acutely on the night of January 10 to 11, 1966, it may be considered that death was caused by repeated acute myocardial infarction,” the report said. It said that when Mr Shastri returned to his villa after a reception marking the end of Indian-Pakistan summit talks he was in high spirits. He felt normal, telephoned his family in New Delhi and went to bed, about 12.30. Barely an hour later he was dead.
