Obituary MR N. FINCH

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 9. Mr Norman Finch, secretary of the Auckland Trades Council and a trade union secretary in Auckland for 22 years, died last week. He was 51. He had been secretary of the Auckland Journalists’ Union for the last five years. He was a national councillor of the Federation of Labour and had been an executive member of the Auckland Trades Council for 17 years. He was also a former executive member of the Auckland L.R.C. In 1953, he was the F.O.L. representative to the International Labour Organisation conference in Geneva and in the same year went to Stockholm for the conference of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions. Three years ago he was F.O.L. representative at the Duke of Edinburgh's conference in Canada. He was the unsuccessful Labour candidate for the Tamaki electorate in the 1963 general election.
