ONE KILLED, FIVE HURT
Buller Gorge Accident (N.Z. Press Association) WESTPORT, January 10. A married woman from Hamilton was killed and five people injured, four of them seriously, in a head-on collision on an unsealed section of the Upper Buller gorge road this afternoon. The dead woman’s name has not yet been released. Her husband suffered serious head and chest injuries. Their 13-year-old son was slightly injured. The three occupants of the second car were all seriously injured, two with head injuries and the other with leg injuries. All the injured were admitted to the Nelson Public Hospital.
Passenger Hurt.—When a truck and a motor-scooter collided in Avonside drive, near Fitzgerald avenue, about 11.07 a.m. yesterday the pillion passenger on the scooter, Brian Godfrey Murray Herdman, of 18 Dorset street, suffered leg injuries. He was treated at the Christchurch Public Hospital and discharged. The driver of the scooter Barry Desmond Forbes, of 13 Shirley road, was not hurt in the accident.
