ATTEMPT TO BLOW SAFE
Man Arrested In Auckland (N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 10. Police arrested a man after an attempt to blow open a safe in the Panmure T.A.B. offices about 4 a.m. today. ! Explosive materials recovered included a flash ,nitro- ■’ glycerine. This is considered a dangerous and unstable explosive and is little used in burglaries in Auckland. J In a week-end smash-and-I grab from Coltmans Jewellers, 16 men’s and women’s worth about £3OO were stolen. j Police are also investigating the theft of about £l5O from a restaurant in Great : North Road and several house burglaries.
Demolition at Lyttelton.— The demolition of an old twostorey wooden building in Oxford street Lyttelton, began yesterday. A two-storey concrete building for Kinsey and Company, Ltd.. shipping agents, will be built on the site.
