Documents were signed this afternoon by the chairman of the Taranaki County Council (Mr L. Hickford) to set in motion an application to the Royal Humane Society for a "high award" for Mr Anthony Johns.
Mr Johns, aged 19, on Saturday brought a 14-year-old New Plymouth schoolgirl, Rae Marion Keightley, on to Oakura beach after an attack by a shark.
