ROBERTS WINS

Wind Halts § O.K. Race (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Winds gusting to more than 40 miles per hour forced the cancellation of the second race of the New Zealand O.K. dinghy yachting championships at Murray’s Bay, Auckland, yesterday. The series will now be of only five races instead of the scheduled six. In the morning the titleholder, C. A. Roberts of Auckland, was a clear winner of the first heat The national junior titleholder, J. Douglas, was second. Capsizes were frequent in the fresh southerly wind. Only 22 of the 49 starters were able to finish.

Auckland yachtsmen dominated the heat, and D. A. Dodson (Wellington) was the only visitor to finish. He was sixteenth.

The placings were: (all Auckland competitors) C. Roberts 1, J. Douglas 2, M. Menzies 3, E. Bland 4, M. Paterson 5, G. Menzies 6, W. Thomson 7, D. Bremner 8.
