Ferry Hit Wharf

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 10. One hundred passengers on the Waiheke Shipping Company vessel the Motonui, stepped from the ship straight on to Quay street this morning when the vessel failed to make its moorings at the Auckland ferry terminus and collided with the quayside. No-one was injured in the collision but a gaping hole was made in the bow. Passengers were warned to hold on when it became apparent a collision was imminent. The Motonui was edged against the footpath. It was later pulled clear. The collision occurred when the engineer slipped and knocked himself out on the floor before he could put the engines into reverse.
