The Queensland fast bowler, Peter Allan, took all 10 Victorian wickets for 61 in a Sheffield Shield cricket match in Melbourne on Saturday.

His last six wickets fell for only 14 runs and five of these came from overthrows.

Allan was dropped by the Australian selectors from the current third test after playing in the first test in Brisbane and

being twelfth man in the second.

Only one other bowler, Tim Wall (South Australia). has taken 10 wickets in an innings in a shield match. Wall took 10 for 36 against New South Wales in Sydney in the 1932-33 season.

Allan’s complete figures were 15.6 overs, 3 maidens, 61 runs, 10 wickets. At stumps, Queensland was in a commanding position, with 180 and 169 for two against Victoria’s first innings of 130.
