CRICKETERS TO TOUR
N.Z. Women's Side Chosen (N.Z. Press Association • AUCKLAND. Miss P. Blackler, aged 46. is one of three Canterburyplayers chosen for the NewZealand women’s cricket team to tour England. Holland and Ireland this year. Misses P. Moore and J. Stead are the other Canterbury players. Miss Blackler, who, with Mesdames J. G. and I. M. Lamason. selected the team, is the oldest player chosen. A clerk, she has played for Canterbury since 1935 and first represented New Zealand in 1938 as a fast bowler in a team which visited Australia. She has developed since as a slow leg spinner. Miss Stead, aged 23. is a clerk. She has opened the batting for Canterbury since [1958 and will act as reserve wicket-keeper.
The team is: Miss P. McKelvey (Wellington), captain; Miss B. Brentnail (North Shore), vice-captain; Misses P. Blackler (Canterbury), J. Burley (Auckland); Mrs W. Coe (Wellington); Misses J. Doull (Auckland), S. Englehardt (Auckland), W. Fitzwilliams (Otago), J. Lord (North Shore), E. Maker (Wellington), P. Moore (Canterbury), C. Ayler (North Shore), J. Saulbrey (Wellington), J. Stead (Canterbury) and J. Stonell (Wellington).
The team will leave from Wellington on March 19 and will return to Auckland about October 7.
