Dutchman Shares Golf Lead

(N.Z. Press Association) TAURANGA. The Dutch professional, M. Roesink, shot a six-under-par 67 yesterday to share the lead aftei’ the second round of the New Zealand professional golf championship at Mount Maunganui.

With him, on a 36-hole total of 139, is the defending champion, B. J. Coxon, of Australia.

Roesink had five birdies and an eagle in his round, after dropping a stroke when he drove a tee shot into trees at the eleventh hole. His 300-yard drive from the fifteenth tee was one of the longest ever seen on the course and enabled him to sink a 15ft putt for his eagle. Roesink had a slim chance to equal the course record of 66, set on Thursday by Coxon, when he had to sink a 30ft putt on the final green. The ball, however, rolled to the right of the cup.

Coxon had a disappointing second round, and after being three under after 12 holes, faded to finish with a par round of 73. The Australian missed a total of five putts, all under three foot, in his round. At the tenth hole, Coxon drove

into the trees and was forced to chip the ball on to the fairway while kneeling because of low branches. C. McGregor, of Australia, carried a 69 yesterday to share second place with F. X. Buckler, of Lochiel, 72, with total scores of 140. The Mount Maunganui golfer, B. Ducker, had a 67 for a total of 141. He leads in the amateur section. Leading scores are:— 139: -B: J.
