FEMALE RACER
Entry For 500c.c. New Zealand's only woman road racing motor-cyclist. Miss D. E. R. Foote, of Dunedin, is a definite starter for the national 500 e.e. and open airfield championships, to be held at the Wigram international rar and motor-cycle meeting on January 22. This was confirmed yesterday by Mr Gordon Shepherd, secretary of the Motor Racing Club, the organising body of the meeting. Miss Foote, who is 24. will ride a powerful 500 c.c. B.S.A. She has entered for two 25-mile races of 11 laps each, both of which have drawn the country's top male road racers.
This will be her second appearance in Canterbury. Last season she raced In the New Zealand senior grand prix at Ruapuna Park. In this she performed very creditably, reaching speeds of more than 100 miles an hour along the main straight, and leading home a number of accomplished male riders. Miss Foote will be doing her best to show the men the way at Wigram. but there is one rider, she says, she dare not pass. Her fiancee, N. J. Landrebe (Dunedin), one of the country's top riders, will be making a strong bid for the titles on his 499 c.c. Matchless
