Surf Board Stolen
One of the leading contenders for this season’s paddleboard championship, P. Stevens (Waimairi), had his surf board, which he had planned to use in the championships, stolen off the roof of his car while it was parked in Kaikoura on Thursday. His elder brother, M. J. Stevens, a former New Zealand surf ski rescue champion and part owner of the board, said yesterday that it was less than a year old and was valued at about £4O P. Stevens was the Canterbury junior paddleboard champion in 1964. He was one I of 17 Canterbury surfers nom[inated as trialists for the New Zealand team which toured Australia last season. In the trials, he won his paddleboard [race but was not chosen.
