TO VISIT CHCH.
Australian High Commissioner
The Australian High Commissioner in New Zealand (Mr D. W. McNicol), who was awarded the C.B.E. in the New Year’s Honours’ List, will visit Christchurch for six days from January 15. He also will visit Timaru. The itinerary for Mr McNicol, his wife and son, was announced yesterday by the Australian Trade Commissioner in the South Island (Mr M. G, B. Coultas). The family will be the guests of Mr and Mrs Coultas at a dinner party on January 15; they will play golf at Shirley on January 16 as guests of the captain of the Christchurch Golf Club (Mr J. Ward) and Mrs Ward. On January 17 they will call on the Mayor (Mr Manning), and the same day will be guests at a luncheon given by the Christchurch Consular Corps. That evening they will be guests at a cocktail party given by the president of the Royal Commonwealth Society. The family will visit the university at Ham on January 18 and Mr and Mrs Coultas will later give a cocktail party for them. After visiting Timaru on January 19, they will visit Lincoln College and the Wool Research Institute on January 20. The same evening Mr McNicol will be the guest of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce at a cocktail party. Mr McNicol hopes to visit Dunedin and Invercargill later this year.
