SCIENCE COURSES
University Of Waikato (N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, June 16. It was hoped that a. multipurpose science building would be completed and professors and lecturers in the sciences appointed in 1967, said Dr. D. R. Llewellan, ViceChancellor of the University of Waikato this morning. Dr. Llewellyn was officially opening the 1964 Ruakura farmers’ conference week at the Ruakura farmers’ hall. It was intended that the school of science would be developed in two schools, one of physical sciences and one of biological sciences. "I am sure that in the planning stage and in the future development the university will get the fullest possiblesupport from the Ruakura Research Centre,” he said. Dr. Llewellyn said he hoped the university would be able to take full advantage of the skills and experience the research centre’s staff, and in return to make its contribution towards creating “the atmosphere of adventure which is so vital for research work.” “If we are successful in our approach to the newer concepts of integrated courses we may find that we are somewhat nearer to bridging the gap between the scientist and the non-scientist,” he said.
