Anakiwa Instructor Resigns
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 16, Mr John Hebron, bushcraft instructor at . the Outward Bound School at Anakiwa, has left the school because of “a gulf between him and his fellow instructors.” Tonight the executive committee of the Outward Bound Trust in a statement said there could be no criticism-of Mr Hebron. The statement said: “At a staff conference at the beginning of the last course a gulf was revealed between Mr
Hebron and his fellow instructors which the ensuing discussion failed to bridge. This led Mr Hebron to ask the warden if he wanted him to leave. “The warden said that in the circumstances he thought that this course would be best, but hoped Mr Hebron would continue until a suitable replacement was found. “After a discussion with the president and the executive director Mr Hebron agreed to complete the course. “It was, therefore, with sur-
prise and regret that it was learned that Mr Hebron had left a few days before the end of the course during the absence of the warden from the school. “Far from wishing to stifle criticism, the president and executive are pleased to have it, but in the circumstances are satisfied that all connected with the school are dedicated to the work and ideals of the movement and are doing their utmost to ensure the boys attending the school receive the greatest possible benefit.”
