WELLINGTON, Sept 14. Wellington Bah and chips are luring an American away frem hla heme in Portland. Oregon, according io his wife. She says her husband, Mr D. E. Senter, threatens to come to Wellington to enjoy this fare unless she gets the recipe. She wrote despairingly to the Wellington City Council: “Since my hueband was in your town all I have heard about is the delicious Ash and chips served in Wellington restaurants, and why can't I make him some like they do.
"If I don't get the recipe he swears he will move to your country. •‘Would it be possible to
send me the recipe? Believe me, I would appreciate it tremendously. "PJS. If you don’t send the recipe, please send some details on New Zealand." The moot common fish sold with chips in Wellington is tarakihi, with flour-and-water baiter.
An expert on fish sales, Mr iJ. N. June, general manager of Juries Fish (tri st. TJd said last night he considered Wellington's fish and chips among the best in the country. "The better is thin and the tarakihi moist In some places you get more batter than fish," he said.
