BOYS’ BRIGADE CONFERENCE

Captains To Attend

Lectures

A one-day conference for captains of the Boys’ Brigade in the South Island will be held at Tyndale House, Cashmere, today. Last year at this time a similar conference was held in the North Island.

To be conducted by Commandant J. L. Bush, president of the Canterbury battalion. the conference will be attended by 27 captains from the Nelson and Canterbury districts.

The subjects of lectures and discussions will include the nine-year programme, targets for the year, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, staff meetings, promotions and the work of qualified captains. Leaders who will give addresses are Messrs A. Dornan. Dominion secretary. S. W. Mcßae (Timaru), A. Marshall (Ashburton), W. T. Garlick (Christchurch), C. M. Hilton (Timaru) and the Rev. A. J. Huston (assistant director of Christian education for the Presbyterian Church in Christchurch). Mr Huston will act as conference chaplain and will give an address on “The boy and his spiritual development.”
