Mr John Hunt, said that the conference bad to thank him for a “grand job of work" done since the inception of the meeting in 1951. It had been for him a most rewarding experience, said Mr McCaskill in replying, mainlv because of the many friendships he had made, and these, he believed, would help him in dealing wtih practising farmers in his new nosition of Director of the Tussock Grasslands and Mountain Lands Institute. Mr McCaskill expressed appreciation to those who had worked with him at the conferences and in their planning—conference committees and chairmen, speakers. the press and broadcasting. and Mr R. C. Blackmore, the college visual aids officer. He said that the conference must hold the record in publishing its proceedings—in as little as six weeks and usually two months after the meeting. For 10 years, he said, his wife had had to give un her Queen's Birthday or King’s Birthday holiday in helping with the editing of the material and proof reading. Mr A. T. G. McArthur, who has succeeded Mr McCaskill on the college staff, was introduced to the conference. He will take up the duties of conference secretary.
