PONY SALE AT KIRWEE
Top Price Of 70 Guineas
Ponies were in keen demand at the annual cob. hack and pony sale held this week at Kirwee. The sale was followed by a gallery of nearly 500 with buyers coming from Palmerston South, Waimate. Timaru. Ashburton, and Kaikoura. with a large representation from Banks Peninsula. Of the 34 ponies offered only five were not sold at auction. Ponies of 11.2 hands and under realised from 20gns to 60gns and averaged 38jgns Top price of 60gns was paid for an attractive grey pony gelding aged three years and standing 11.1 hands from Miss Phillippa Warren, of Prebbleton.
Ponies over 11.2 hands and under 13.2 hands made from 25gns to 55gns with an average of 40gns. The highest price in. this section was 55gns paid to Mr C. A. Bailey, of Springston. for a bay mare five years old and 12.2 hands Ponies over 13.2 hands and under 14 2 hands made from 35 to 70gns with an average of 54|gns. Top sale was 70gns for a neat bay pony gelding aged three years and of 14 1 hands offered on account of Mr J. D George. Kirwee. Only two hacks were offered and these both realised 40gns. At the conclusion of the pony sale a quantity of harness was offered with saddles at nrices ranging from £7 to £23. The sale was conducted by Pyne. Gould. Guinness Ltd.
