Record Arrivals In City

The mail handling branches at the Chief Post Office have been deluged during the last few days bv the biggest batch of inward overseas mails ever to arrive in one week Letter bags totalling 1537. and 418 bags of parcels, have arrived from the United Kingdom, the United States. Australia, and some of the Pacific islands.

“By bringing staff back every day this week. we have managed to keep on top of things.” the DeputyChief Postmaster (Mr J. W Lincoln) said yesterday. Most of the influx would be delivered by Monday and all of it by Tuesday, he added The ships which brought the mail included the Iberia from Australia, the Ventura from the United States, and 'he Oriana. Rangitata, Trelawny. and Newcastle Star from the United Kingdom.
