Cook Islands Chief Judge

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 18. The appointment of Mr J. A. Fraser as Chief Judge of the Cook Islands was announced this evening by the Minister of Island Territories (Mr Gotz). Mr Fraser, a qualified solicitor, joined the Public Service as a cadet in the Native Land Court in Rotorua in 1927. He then served in the Maori Land Couort in Wellington. Wanganui, and Auckland. In 1958, he was appointed commissioner of the Maori Land Court in Auckland. During World War Two. Mr Fraser served in the New Zealand forces in Fiji, the Middle East, and Italy. He was wounded during service in Italy.
