LEADERSHIP OF CHURCH
Young People Attend Course
Since the combined Methodist . Presbyterian leadershin training course began in Christchurch on May 8. a full programme has been undertaken by the 27 young people attending. Before the course ends on Friday, the students will all sit a practical examination on the work covered. This has included classes In recreational activities, lectures and discussions on Christian education at the child and adult level, and Instruction in the use of visual aids. Those successful will receive certificates saying that they have passed the leadership training section for the general certificate of the National Council of Churches’ Youth Committee. The over-all course is designed not only to train and develop leaders needed in the work of the two denominations. but to prepare more leaders for work in the community. Internal Activities Leaders in the internal activities of the churches were particularly needed today owing to the increasing development of the Ail Age Sunday School or oarish school organ'ration. said the director of the course (the J Huston) - A church which previously reouired about 15 trained teachers and leaders would now need up to 40. to provide adequate tuition for all church members he sard.
