RUSSIAN SECURITY

Warnings By Party

(N.Z. Preus Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, May 16. Laxity in internal security is worrying Russian intelligence officials as well as their Western counterparts. The “Daily Telegraph” said today this had been disclosed in the latest issue of the journal of the Russian Communist Party central committee, “Party Life.” The journal contained a strong warning to party members of the need for greater “vigilance against Western spies.”

It said secret information had "leaked” into Russian “scientific, technical, military and reference” publications, but had given no details of the disclosures.

The call for greatej vigilance had been made in an article on the publication of a new book about Western intelligence. It had given special warning against talkativeness.

These were some of the other “discoveries”:

A “female official of a capitalist embassy in Moscow” had dressed in overalls

and tried to talk with factory workers. Secret information was being discussed over telephones and transmitted in letters.

Secrets were also being bandied about in speeches and reports at meetings and conferences. A special warning was

issued to officials who liked to brag about “being in the know,” the “Daily Telegraph” said.'
