Escape Of Oil In Harbour

For allowing oil to escape in Lyttelton Harbour on May 11, Alan Hugh Gordon Jones, master of the City of Auckland, was convicted and fined £lO by Mr Raymond Ferner, S.M., in the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court yesterday. NOXIOUS WEEDS OFFENCES Fines for failure to clear noxious weeds were imposed on Alma Victoria May, £5. Barry Francis Norris, £5. Elsie Pearl Harrison, £5. Malcolm Miller was ordered to pay costs only. A fine of £5 was imposed on Barry Francis Norris for failing to trim a barberry hedge. BUILDING BY-LAWS Lawrence Charles Duffy was fined £5, and ordered to pay £1 10s costs and £3 solicitor's fee for an offence against the building by-laws of the Lyttelton Borough Council when building a house at Diamond Harbour. DROVE WITHOUT CARE Philip Robert Best was convicted and fined £2 for driving without due care and attention at Lyttelton.
