RADIO SHOWS AND RECIPE CONTEST
Bid To Raise Fund For Old Folk
A combined fund-raising effort to purchase a vehicle for the use of the Christchurch Aged People’s Welfare Council is at present being organised by the Christchurch Round Table and a New Zealand frozen foods company. The first of these efforts will be a pastry recipe contest sponsored by the company, entries for which will close on June 7. Forms for this competition are now obtainable at all city grocers.
The winner of this competition will be chosen from six finalists who will be put through their paces at a city store on June 13.
The second part of the campaign will consist of a presentation of two radio shows by Selwyn Toogood in the Civic Theatre on the evening of June 14. Details of the programme and of a special "glamour” prize to be awarded there will be given later.
