STREET MARCH APPROVED

Nuclear Disarmament

Campaign

Permission was granted by the City Council last evening for a street march and outdoor meeting on August 4 by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. The council was told that it was proposed to hold the march from the clock Uwer of the Canterbury University shortly after noon and to go to Latimer square, via Worcester street and Cathedral square. Between 50 and 100 marchers were expected, and they would be instructed to walk in twos, keeping to one side of the footpath. The open-air meeting in Latimer square would be chaired by the Rev. Allan Brash, and there would be two other speakers still to be arranged.
