HORSES IN OLYMPICS
Proposal By Americans (ti.Z.P.A .-Renter—Copuright) PARIS. May 16. Horse racing in the Olympic Games is one of the suggestions made by two leading American racing officials who are in Europe to explore the possibility of a world-wide thoroughbred racing association. The president of the Thoroughbred Racing Association of the United States (Mr Dale Shaffer) and the organisation's executive vicepresident (Mr. Spencer Drayton) are in Europe seeking support for their plans. Before leaving Paris for Italy today, they told reporters their two main aims were:
To promote the idea of thoroughbred racing events with amateur riders in the Olympic Games. To organise international races, perhaps three races in three continents, which would constitute a kind of professional world championship. During their tour. Mr Shaffer and Mr Drayton w.Il visit Australia, New Zealand. England, Ireland, Japan, and several. South American countries.
